Reasonable Rain

Reasonable Rain

A Poem by Shelley Warner

Reasonable Rain

I see the morning sky through my bedroom window,

a foggy white behind a gigantic evergreen

In the distance, I hear a car travel on wet pavement

Aww, RETURNING  RAIN

It started gently yesterday, soft and kind,

nothing like the storms I’ve heard about back east,

no flooded streets, no houses crashing into raging waters,

Just REASONABLE  RAIN

All the lawns in our Washington town

have turned to straw,

saving on the cost of water

Welcome, REPLENISHING  RAIN

When I read your lovely poem, I thought to myself that I am in a drought as well; here in the Appalachian Mountains we get plenty of rain, but now forecasters worry about fire danger; Now I must do a dance for rain to fall heavy on our earth as we need the nourishment to sustain life on this planet....let it rain!!!
Nice!

LOL
I see you live just below us and no doubt experienced the same dry spell this year.
I believe it was our driest ever.
And now cometh the rain
I thought it would probably begin raining and never stop, ie; a completereversal, but it seems to be a decent off again, on again mixture which is qute easy to take
Altho', it is getting a bit chilly at night
And then cometh the snow
Have a warm dry day
And then cometh the snow

Hello Shelley, hope you and yours are well my friend. So welcome is rain after a dry spell, where all the grass resembles straw. It doesn’t take long for it to green again after a refreshing drink. Reasonable rain is welcome. Floods and storms aren’t. We have had floods this week in many parts of the country. Scotland has suffered badly. All the best to you. I enjoyed my visit.

It's good to connect with you again Chris. May all your rains be refreshing ones.
This was a nice tribute to the rain. But I was left wondering why the final words of each stanza were entirely capitalized. If it was for mere emphasis, I don't see why that would be necessary since repetition has already accomplished that. But it's always nice to have gentle rain as opposed to flooding, storms and hurricanes. I enjoyed the read. F.
