A Red Rose Tear

A Red Rose Tear

A Poem by Jennifer Warnock

 Darkness falls upon me
as the shadows creep upon the walls.
Upon the floor
my tears fall.
Rain drops
fall to the ground.
Silence is deafening
as the wind blows.
Red rose pedals wilt
and fall to the floor.
One last standing rose pedal
and a tear flows down the pedal.
A light illuminates the rose
as the tear falls down.
The rose begins to fall apart
as the tear hits the floor.
The rain pounds
on the window.
Lightening strikes
on the ground outside.
For a second
the world crumbles
beneath my feet
and I begin to fall.
So so far down
as I see the other end.
Trying to catch myself,
before I go into oblivion.

It's not meant to be dark. Just expressive.
