Dirge

Dirge

A Poem by Sid

Flying beasts, lost in space

The falling rain, cleansing tears

The gathering fog, a misty veil

The dancing clouds, a menacing prelude

The mighty Sun, a mere shadow.

The inevitable gathering, the stars

The deepening night, dawning serenity

Brewing rage, the sky ablaze

Red petals, a bloody rain

The crimson trees, bleeding life.

The ashen roads, ominous warnings

The concrete jungle, draped in mystique

Their masked facades, a hideous play

The opening ravines, a fiery red

The depth beyond, a black abyss.

The scorching flames, rising inferno

Swallowing worlds, it all burns

The devastating light, a million suns

The sweltering heat, destructing life

The anguished earth, seeking solace.

The gentle water, coming relief

The increasing flow, inevitable doom

The daunting waves, indestructible walls

The versatile water, flooding every crevice

The new nightmare, choking life.

The gentle zephyr, a prologue

The gathering black, approaching storm

The relentless winds, mighty juggernauts

The battered resistance, crushed mirthlessly

The destructed world, the dirge absolute.

Sid I have been avoiding this for some time because ... well... it is a dirge... and the title tells me that... and I was thinking I wold rather read Sids more positive stuff, you know like "Sweven" LOL.

I should not have hesitated, I love it. It is wonderful, I hear Mozart's tribute to his father (it too was a dirge) playing in the back ground as I read this... it is masterful.

Thank you for requesting me to do a read. I would have missed this gem otherwise.

Thank you again Nicholas, glad you like it!!
Doomsday won't be fast. It will be a slow and bad death. I like the detail description. I had to read the poem again for the pleasure of the strong language and statements. I like the word "Dirge". Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Doomsday...it approaches...
Wow :D That was probably the first and last time I've ever sounded mysterious and dark....just throw in an evil laugh: Doomsday...it approaches....MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Ok, sorry. It's been an odd day :P I dissected rubber ducks in Chem. and wrote a zombie essay in English, so that might've kinda scrambled my brain a bit....I'm still not on topic....ok, STARTING OVER!!!!

This is a very, very, very, very super spectacular piece of poetry :D All the "the"s at the beginning of most sentences make it very accusatory and..um...what's the word I'm looking for? Grrr ;( We'll just say forceful. Accusatory and forceful. But in a good way :D

Super duper good work :D :D :D :D :D (as always :P)

I can't wait for the 1st January 2013 so I can say in your face to however decided 2012 was the year the world would end ;)
My favourite part was when you spoke of heat in the fourth stanza and then the water bring relief...only to be just as destructive...quiet sadistic:) I like that :P
I enjoyed this Sid, wonderful work as always!!
