Morning

Morning

A Poem by Justin Tobey
"

I thought of this poem while I was in the shower after three failed attempts to get out of bed.

"

Blurry images flee.

Darkness.

Distant sounds echo.

Darkness.

Enveloping warmth and closeness.

A crack of dimmed light

Peeks through squinting eyes.

I lie in a warm, comforting cocoon.

In front of me, mountains and valleys

Of soft, velvet sheets

Amaze and intrique me for hours.

Pale lily sunlight

Flows in through striped curtains.

I close my eyes and take in

The overwhelming peace.

No responsibility. No cares.

Nothing in the world is worth getting up for.

I turn my face in,

The warm pillow embraces

And blocks the offending light.

Darkness.

I do believe that you have pulled all in. You have written this in such an eloquent mnner that it urges me to go to bed. Loved it.

As much as I love my job I have this feeling all the time.
Excellent poem!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I love this - and can so relate. I like how visual it is - and how simple. Now I want to take a nap.

I know the feeling! It is so hard on some days to get going when it is still dark outside (right now it is 5:26am).

Ah, lovely ode to those moments when we first awake and dare not wander out of comfortable beds - nestled in with lovely, puffy comforters and all. Thank you. Great poem.
Light,
Siddartha
