A Promise

A Promise

A Poem by Skib

Promises mean little to me
I've heard many over time
passing through my ears like sound
and air that hits such ancient chimes

So when such melodies
tickle my drums
I raise to ear
forefinger and thumb

To muffle out the devils tune
"I promise you my dear"
and by doing so reminds me
that hope has no home here.
