Our Songs Echo in Familiar Places

Our Songs Echo in Familiar Places

A Poem by Skylar Lighten
"

So many songs and places remind me of you. And I miss you.

"

I haven't been to your favorite places in a while,

Yet they're still imbued with your perfect style.

Your scent lingers in the air, a gentle wile,

Reminding me of moments that made us smile.

Joey's place, where we used to roam,

Though I met him on the subway, now alone.

He said I could visit, make it my own,

But without you, it feels like a borrowed home.

Ray and I caught up, reminisced for a while,

But your absence echoed, a silent trial.

I bought you these records, a thoughtful pile,

So you can remember me with every dial.

When you're far away, under a distant sky,

Sing into the microphone, let your heart fly.

On karaoke nights, let the memories amplify,

The songs that made our souls unify.

I wish I could stay here for a while

Find ourselves again in a place that's already known
