Dixie Whistlers

Dixie Whistlers

A Poem by Jordan A. Wilson

Misguided fools, whistlin’ dixie

Hard not to fall victim

O, let it flow through one ear

And right out the other

Victim I fell and never again,

Sweep them from my conscious

Like a spring wind

Misguided fools, whistlin’ dixie

Hard not to fall victim

O, let it flow through one ear

And right out the other

Pail face smiles, seemingly warm embrace

In time darkened, black shadows

Vehemently take their place

Misguided fools, whistlin’ dixie

Hard not to fall victim

O, let it flow through one ear

And right out the other

The spoils of your heart whistle to me not

‘Tis not a heart indeed

You’ll soon be forgot

There's an art to discerning bad from good poetry, as much as it is in writing poems. This is one of the better poems I've read all day. I don't flatter, like most people on this site. Nice one.
