Expectations.....

Anything for a quiet life

You sit there with your two playful children

And your doting, needy wife

 

You contemplate your life for a moment

Your dreams, hopes and desires

The aspirations you once had

Are firmly left behind you

 

You're worn down by expectations

Of what the right thing is to do

You can't follow what you truly want

Or what your heart is telling you

 

You're controlled and manipulated by others

As they put upon you

You can't have your own private thoughts

Because they won't allow you too

 

You wish that things had turned out differently

And you knew what you know now

But you've chosen to live this life full of expectations

And you just can't get out
