4 AM

A Poem by Scott S
"

Being a very early riser, I wanted to do a piece that paid tribute to a time of day, that for some is golden. Other early birds will probably know what I mean.

"
Black velvet satin
Embracing cool summer air
Step outside; breathe it in
Feel the fog dampen your hair

Owl in the tree top
She watches with a wink
Crystal silence in my brain
The dripping of the sink

Lush violins and java
Smell delicious in my ears
Bows and strings and Keurig
No worries; no fears

A barking in the distance
Canine with attitude
He speaks his mind in darkness
When the day is new

Ticking of the antique clock
A whisper from a moth
4 AM; a day anew
Wrapped in silken cloth

I was not going to use rhymes in this piece, but it just happened. It's been a while since I last published anything. Funny how you sort of feel out of practice, when you haven't written for a spell. Thanks for reading my work.

What a transcending description of this particularly cryptic hour of the day. Who doesn't love Edgar Allen Poe - esque mystery of the night. Great job with this piece you are very talented.
