Burn the Lantern

Burn the Lantern

A Poem by Scott S
"

I wanted to write a piece about the terrible plight of the Syrian people, and their hope for a new start. My heart goes out to those good people who are simply pawns in the horror of their war.

"
Time to burn the lantern
A new day has begun
Tanks and gas and chaos
And nowhere left to run

Taste the poison in the air
Hold your children tight
Tears and screams abounding
As darkness turns to light

Demons sitting at the helm
Control your destiny
Bite your lip and pray aloud
And struggle to get free

Jordan calling from the south
A haven to be found
Get in line with others
Time to leave this town

It's time to burn the lantern
Abandon all you see
Leave behind the sickness
It's time for you to flee

An ancient guy once said that you can see a poet heart, mind and characters in his poetry.I think he was true. This is a beautiful poem.I can see through your heart in this piece.Your love for humanity knows no religion or race.

The wisest thing to do when you a caught up in a war is to flee. Jesus told his apostles to flee when they see the enemy coming. Most people do not want to leave behind their wealth that's why they die defending their town. .
I feel so sad about the crisis in Syria. There must be a reason behind all that.Maybe when peace finally comes people will be purified.
