Hold your tongue

Hold your tongue

A Poem by C.C. Marx
"

got to learn sometime, though I think I will never learn. Based off a conversation I had with my dad after an arguement

"

Hush darling, hold your tongue,

Choke back those evil words

Those childish, soon-be-regretted words

Remember your control

Don’t give in to the emotion

Anger is an ugly creature

Goading you to lash out.

Don’t give in my darling,

Swallow your immature remarks

Hold in the insults out of vain

Forgive those who wronged you

Let go of that hideous emotion

Don’t be consumed by him

Fight the urge to surrender.

Remember darling,

Anger feeds off your pain

He benefits no one.

I found it difficult to tell if you were addressing yourself or another person. The honesty and conscience of it really leads you.

Very powerful poem ringing with honesty and truth. Anger only consumes the angry, and resentment only feeds off the hearts of the one who holds it. It affects the others very little, but it can devour our lives and turn us into someone else. A great poem, as always. Thank you for sharing this ^^
