Your Eternal

Your Eternal

A Poem by sonnie ibadah

Take my hand, and let me hold you close love.
Don’t push away the warmth,
Don’t shut away the promises.
For tonight, I can promise forever,
by making this embrace last a lifetime,

And early dawn, when you wake to an empty bed,
Have no fear, love.
For I’ll be the lingering scent in your sheets.

Through the crack on your window,
Where the healing winds blow,
I’ll be the first ray that warms your heart.

And among the sounds of birds singining in the day,
Will be my sweet symphony,
Serenading your beauty.

And in the languid evenings,
Where a million crystals blanket the dark sky,
I’ll be your own shooting star.

So have no fear for tomorrow love,
And don't worry about your present.
For I am your now. Your then.
I am your eternal.

Beuatiful write Sonnie, like words softly spoken to that person, whether they are there or not, in the knowing they will be found and felt.
Although, I do wonder if the guy even knows about it yet, as we aren't the brightest bulb in the store and are usually blissfully unaware. Or is that just me? 😀

Beautiful things are seldom forever things as Frost observed in his poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay". But we treasure the thought or the illusion of their permanence, nonetheless. But I do believe in the permanence of love. I enjoyed reading this. Good writing.

Thank you so much for your kind review!
This would be a beautiful poem for a wedding. I'm not usually a fan of love poems, but I really like this one, it has a spiritual feel about it that makes the love feel eternally tender, even if some of the promises are not actually possible in the real world.

Lol...Thank you!
I really liked this poem. It's very magnetic. The eternal lover still pulls in while the other is trying to push away. I love the building of trust it's beautiful!

I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thank you :)
This could be life itself speaking to me. What makes this poem stand out for me is it refreshing imagery and the very convincing assurance of love. A great poem.

Oh, this is like the black widow spider scenario.
Yes of course you can have sex, but I'm going to eat you after it.
Now any sensible guy would run a mile from this girl. Alas, our brain is down below and most women know this.
