~Pearl~The Oracle

~Pearl~The Oracle

A Poem by Sophy Freebirds
"

An oyster needs to be wounded to produce a pearl

"
In the rock hard bottom,
Of the deep dark ocean....
Where the golden twinge
Of the sun filters through,
The aquamarine hue...

With your calcareous shell wide open,
As the invited enemy enters within..
Suffering the groaning agony,
Your walls shake with abject cacophony...
Covering me with strata of traits;
Birthing me through the labour pain...

Unlike gemstones being mined
And polished to sparkling beauty..
I emanate shiny iridescence,
Which is my inborn quality...

I ain't the tear of goddess Aphrodite;
Nor dewdrops filled with moonlight...

But through the strain,
I have not gone in vain.
Refining fire has honed,
Passing test of Lydian stone.

Like a wise oracle,
Standing in life's pinnacle...
Going through the transition
From an afflicted PEARL
To be a SOPHY- enlightened one..

I sometimes wonder, why we Americans are so weak in character, in strength, in morals. My generation has lived off the backs of our forefathers and we have taken for granted the blessings that we have. We are the way we now, because we have not had to suffer through any real trials and tribulations. One of the reasons for our forefathers breaking away from England was because of the religious persecution and the lack of freedom. They died for the cause. They were only able to do so because they had a lot of trials and tribulations that they suffered through that molded them into the great men they were that founded a new country, a country of freedom. We know nothing of suffering and therefore lack any character, morals or sense of duty, for we have not been tried. Trials make for great people. Thanks for sharing my friend, another fantastic work of art!

Enlightened indeed with a wisdom and grace beyond your youth. This is a fantastic piece of self-realization and confession.

Yes indeed, we all have to take our fair share of knocks, rejection and put downs in life, but those who can rise above this and transmute the negative into positive, will be the ones who will eventually stand tall above the rest and shine brightly like a luminous star or indeed, a brilliant pearl !

Another creatively penned masterpiece Sophy, you are always on top of your game, kudos to your expressive pen!

You are welcome. I like how we gained our names.
i love the analogy to the birth of a pearl...there is much wisdom in your words...and you do the name much justice...

a wise oracle is one who has been through it...

and understands.

Thank you Jacob for your kind words :)
Whoa, this is gorgeous Sophy pearl! We're all wounded in one way or another, your words make it seem a wondrous delight.

Your walls shake with abject cacophony...
Covering me with strata of traits;
Birthing me through the labour pain...

Oh that is painfully blissful....!
