The seed

The seed

A Poem by Soren

A seed that had no chance

fought against all odds

and from it grew a mighty oak

That harbored nesting birds

and shaded those that passed

Then came a man

that cut the tree

from which planks were torn

hewn and nailed into place

forming a house recast

The wood sheltered those that felled it

Inside children were born

It saw them grow

some stayed in view

and some the wind did blow

When the west wind blew

of this wood they shaped a box

and planted him close by

where the seed first grew

so many years ago

From time to time a memory sprouted

different in each one's mind

some were hard

some were kind

buried under leaves of time

interesting metaphors in this poem.. the tree was the beginning of life and ultimately death... and in between there were many years of birth, sprouting, memories....family time, and then the death and how it affected different member of the family...."some were hard, some were kind"

In the third stanza you can pick up the rhyme effect without twisting syntax into a pretzel: and some were blown by the wind
Same in stanza 4
they shaped a box from the wood
