When Insanity Knocks

When Insanity Knocks

A Poem by OtherWorldWoman

Insanity is knocking on my door
Its knocking there without means to an end
These infuriating thoughts just splatter to the floor
They snap, and shatter and bend
Where is that mind of which has some purity?
That little bit of sanity?
They'll lock me up behind white-washed walls
They'll gag me, and bind me and take my balls
Before I even have a chance to shout
Before they even realize it, they will doubt
Me.
They will screw holes in my mouth
So my words can't escape
Make a cage out of myself
And set me on a shelf
Till my mind rots away
And I finally see it their way
That's when they will set me free
To die in a world with no sea
To swim.
No air to breathe
No switch to dim
The bright lights ascending on the flows
Capturing all of those
The people like me, who cannot come to see
The way our race has come to be

Insanity is tugging at my skirt
To the point of rip and tear
Its not a threat, rather an alert
I need to be somewhere
In that place where we can all begin to breathe
And take new to life, and start to succeed
The idea is old in my mind
And fresh in my heart
A taste of that wandering art
Hiding out in the open
Like a regular person, whose coping
With life.
F**k the world, put away that
knife.
Breathe the real air
And go down without a fight
Stop being scared of insanity
Its more effective in this kind of life.
Just be...for what is you and not what is me.
Not what is them, nor her, nor him.
Just be...for what is you to be.
