Paranoid Interpretations

Paranoid Interpretations

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

Did I do something wrong or has paranoia set in?
It's been four minutes since you left and my head is starting to spin
I noticed you saw me but you did not see within
I took note of all gestures as they cut through so thin
Every time that you spoke you'd lick your lips to begin
Every breath in between changed the tone of your skin

And I've been wondering if it means something more than it was
Did your breath catch that one time or did I imagine a pause?
Does it mean that you're outraged over something I caused?
Or is my overthinking one of my flaws?
When you crossed your arms was it just because?
Or had I unknowingly broken some unspoken laws?

Is there a reason you did not answer when I spoke to you?
That time you canceled plans was I supposed to take a cue?
When you told me all was fine was I meant to see through?
Is there something wrong or is my outlook skewed?
Every time you're not clear I don't know what I should do
Is my neurosis clouding my view?

When you looked at me then quickly glanced away
Was it something I said that made your vision stray?
Did I do something that wasn't rightly conveyed?
Did I make a mistake for which I must pay?
Did I give false impression of the me I portray?
Or does my reasoning cover just one shade of grey?
