Stars

A Poem by stargirljenn
"

compares star movement to being out of place in life

"
Night comes slowly, indifferent to all who watch.
I lie on my back on a car with a still warm engine,
staring at stars that are not lined up as they were last night
or the night before.

They are out of place and so am I.
Some Ancient forgot to give them a diagram,
each star with its own spot,
tape on the floor, and such.

Then I look again and
they rearrange and all is well.
Maybe they have memorized their placement.
And as they line up in their regular places
I wish I had a diagram, tape on the floor.
How much better if I also knew my place.

This is beautifully visual, but with a bit of discord. I've lain on warm car hoods and watched the stars, too, so I easily put myself into the picture. Yes, life, like the stars, can seem in disarray one minute and in alignment the next.
