TOTEM

TOTEM

I heard a scuffle

in the brush---turned

in time to see the jay

fly free from a fox

who turned and saw me.

We looked into each other

until I liked to died,

until, with a whirl of tail,

the vixen vanished

into winter’s broken weeds,

all but my body

disappearing with her.

You have the essence of Mary Oliver, whom I love. The natural made spiritual -- made transcendent.

The alchemy of introspection and release makes your work intriguing. Keep writing. And keep sharing it.

You have a fan.
