Factory Girl

Factory Girl

A Poem by Stephanie W.

The moonlight illuminates these baby doll bones.

Manhattan streets, she walks alone.

Glittering as he sleeps,

This poetry is smoke.

And he whispers, "If you have to dream,

Dream of light's refracting dance.

And if death is a promise,

You must leap at every chance."

These floors turn into ash beneath her feet.

She'll keep staring out the window till there's nothing left to see.

Scissors cut the air so thick,

She'll do just as you please.

And since when is it only prayer if you get down on your knees?

The secrets that these walls will keep...

The street's won't lead us home.

"Turn every head.

Break every promise.

And never sleep alone."
