The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by KAREN
"

How a stormy day makes one sad!

"

This morning the world seemed sad

      the birds didn't sing songs,

      nor did animals move about

no kids came out to play

The sun didn't make a peep

rain fell into puddles like tear drops

      flowers refused to bloom

the wind blew, causing the trees to bend

      That night clouds hung low

      the sky was dark

I wondered where the moon was?

      no stars twinkled above

      The world being so sad

      made me feel really bad

I wondered would it ever be happy again?

      would I be happy again?

I went to sleep full of questions

Bright light flooded through my window

my eyes opened to music outside

      the sun was up

      birds were singing

      kids were playing

flowers were in full bloom everywhere

I looked outside the world was full of laughter

      It was happy!

      I looked in the mirror

      I even seemed happy!

      The storm had ended!

ahhh, when one is down it's impossible to see the world moving on without us...so we create our own drabness to match our own...a true write for sure

Wow I enjoyed this. It reminds everybody that after a storm there will be sunshine and a brighter day!
Great work!

If only the world could heal itself by washing away the unhappiness and then returning to the sun with happy smiles and fluttering hearts. I think you set up the unhappy earth nicely using a storm and it's darkness. Your description hit the mark and it was a nice transition into happier days for us all. Very good poem.

I really liked the first part of this work.. but I was looking for some type of explanation as to why the world was sad.. I loved the imagery and the build up.. This had flashes of brilliance written all over it..
