Her soul burns with an unknown love

while her mind urges her

lips to go talk to him.

Heat rises in her cheeks,

and emotion scents the air she breathes.

Her lips plea for the touch of romance

that dresses his body.

 

Eyes glance her way,

and hope flies around like butterflies,

she prays time will send him her way.

Pain lays shattered at her feet

like broken glass as he

dances and holds another tight.

Yearning for him turns into

the champagne she holds,

and she swallows passion with each drop.

 

She looks inside herself,

and is shocked at the empty hours

she has spent waiting for a love that

only lives in her broken heart.

Yet, her lips plea for the taste of his warmth.

The pain cuts flesh as she leaves once again,

alone.

This poem build imagery of the smoky dark night spot of detective novels that I just absolutely love. The admiration she feels for this man is truly special and heartfelt. There a a lot of questions that roam through my mind. Sexy but elegant and written with class...leaving us wanting to approach her and create a happy ending.

A very creative and romantic poem on the painful side of love. A broken heart and yearning for someone now gone from your life is such a painful emotion...but I think painful is such a weak word to describe that sort of pain.
