Guilt

Guilt

A Poem by The Young Lion Last Beat

I've got blisters on
the bottom of my feet
from walking all day
and my neck is sore
from upward glances
every few feet to the sky
but I found nothing of interest
in it except maybe a few birds
and passenger airplanes for awhile
but it was an overcast and visibility
was low until the clouds parted and the fog lifted
and now it was beautifully clear
and expressionless.--Without words
it spoke with such lucidity
about the truths that
I've been searching for
in all of the wrongs places
like in church and in books
and in people and in drugs.
There is no heaven anywhere
and GOD IS NOT REAL.
There is no hell anywhere.
No one suffers.
No one starves
There is no war
and there is no poverty.

If nothing is true
and everything is
permitted then
we are all
guilty of rape
and murder.
