Secret Heart

Secret Heart

A Poem by Stuart Douglas
"

From the 2007 album Eden Slips Away

"

You slipped into the party

like a ghost out of the air

with your eyes as dark as midnight

I was captured by your stare

And your words come out so sweetly

like sugar from your mouth

But I'm helpless as you turn away

wishing things I'll never say

But in my secret heart

I could fall in love tonight

underneath the southern sky

In my secret heart

If you notice my intentions,

you don't call me out

Could you really be this clueless

as my spirit fills with doubt?

So you move a little closer

and flash that wicked smile

but I'm helpless as I watch you leave

wishing I could let you see

In my secret heart

I could fall in love tonight

underneath the southern sky

In my secret heart

Lay down lay down baby

I will lay thee down

to sleep the sleep of the blessed

Go to sleep

In my secret heart

All the things you'll never know

feelings I will never show

In my secret heart

Lay down lay down baby

I will lay thee down

to sleep the sleep of the blessed

Go to sleep

Go to sleep

This was a soft song - I wonder if the music is acoustic guitar and light drums/piano/bass or if there is a slight groove underneath - like that of a party. Secret heart is a great hook.
