F*****g Relatives

F*****g Relatives

A Poem by John Stussy
"

A rant.

"

What don’t you get

About leave me alone?

I don’t want your input

On my work at all.

You criticize me

On what I write,

Saying it’s not good,

Your poems are sins.

Open your damned eyes,

I’m a f*****g adult!

Expression is mine alone,

I choose my own image.

You aren’t my parents,

You’ll never replace them.

Stop trying to do it,

You’ll keep pushing me away.

You can’t tell me

How to write.

Can’t say “No erotica,

No damn, no f**k.

No romance in your work,

Use your words to praise God.”

Here’s a little hint I’ve dropped

Countless times already…

I DON’T BELIEVE IN YOUR F*****G GOD!!!

I have no religion,

I think for myself.

I write how I want

Because it helps me.

Leave me alone,

I don’t want you as

A reader of mine.

Back up off me,

Get out of my face.

Give me room to move,

I can’t breathe.

I’m going to write

Whatever I want,

Whether smutty Erotica

Or satanic rantings.

I write for me.

Ahh! I do feel for you, mine are rubbish at crit too. Don't understand my work at all, Just ignore neg crit John, philistines never get us creative types! Yes you are an adult and your family will have to understand and get used to the fact that, as you so rightly state in this fine rant of your! As a known queen of rants, I can rank you!lol you also write to help you. You are a fine young man and it is not just a matter of getting over it, time and all that rubbish, it is a matter of riding that roller coaster of grief and pain from your loss. IE expressing that pain, love, loss, pure ecstacy, love, the lot. I know that ride so well, I am sure your relatives feel it too but they are much much older and more experienced and NOT in you and your siblings situation. Poetry is poetry and censorship is useless. Well done. Keep writing. Smiling at you, Tai x

I'm glad you got this thing out of your system. Your life and your opinion belongs to you and no one else.
Reminds me of a quote 'if you be yourself, you will be by yourself too'
But it's better to be alone than live someone else's life.

By the way, this is my story too.
My parents know that I used to write when I was a kid. About the present, they have no idea. I haven't told them about this site. I don't think I ever will. Same for relatives and friends.
I do not want appreciation or criticism from people who know me personally. They will either pretend to like my work because they like me' or will tear it into shreds because that's what they would like to do to me. That's not the reason I write. I write because it's one of the few things I enjoy.

You're a great writer. We enjoy your work a lot. And as long as you're happy with it, I don't think anything else matters as much. Keep writing.
