Fall

Fall

A Poem by Sun Dog
"

The fourth of the series.

"

Now we descend into fall
every leaf is dying
no longer fed by you
and our once sun soaked
beginnings

too much gray
holds shadows against our eyes
and all but blacked out
the memories of the breeze
gently blowing across
our carefree days

slowly
the splintering bark of my wind torn youth
has been peeled away
revealing an aging core
which is thirsting for those summer squalls
when there existed at least
enough interest to bear
yet another day in search
of sunlight

I find your take on Fall to be very interesting and unique.
While most writers seem to reflect on it positively (as a transitional stage) in their pieces, you write of its variation and change as only a reminder of the lost splendor of summer.
Melancholy and yearning.
Very well written; you have great potential as a writer. *smile*

I think this part of the series is the darkest emotionally. Maybe because Fall is when it starts getting colder and darker so that makes some people sad. Of course, it was still very powerful. Sadness is a strong emotion. Great write! Off to read Winter :)
