Breakthrough

I’m not in a hospital bed,
But I might as well be,
I don’t look sick to you,
But take a look inside me

I’m smiling for show,
I look happy to you,
But underneath it all,
Are only hues of blue

My laugh sounds cheerful,
Like a bird singing a song,
But underneath it all,
This sparrow doesn’t belong

I appear to be without worries,
Like a bird that’s uncaged,
But underneath it all I know,
It’s only for display on stage

Oh lord, set me truly free,
I yearn to only live for you,
For my life, my flesh, is nothing,
Oh my spirit, will you ever..
