Sleepless

Sleepless

A Poem by Swagato Saha

Oh revere the stimulus that shall surround me yet, so sublime so sultry as tonight!
My realm of pleasures so criminally misheard; as profiles ghost in and out of sight,
As obscene spirits seize their indistinct faces, that rearrange in libertine orders,
To combine in splendid open-mouthed jouissance; beauty that eludes all recorders.

Inhibitions of old be undone as they rise, to musings of the cushioned voyeur,
As dopamine deprived desires entwine, volatile with wanton grandeur;
Summoned by subjects august and prudent, the stilted sonnets they deride,
The unfound romance that's long haunted homes; be the perverse now glorified!

Like brilliant metronomes they synchronize yes, in soulless simple harmonics,
That escalate to close in unwelcome climax, all victim to the sorry aesthetics...
Of revolving lights so distastefully stark, vain melodies devoid of theatrics;
Or is it then the night that turns me down, this host of primeval hysterics?

Oh regard the stimulus that surrounds us all, so strident so solemn as tonight!
My realm of pleasures so surely appalled, sure as they dissolve out of sight;
And in sobriety secured by effervescent alcohol, in these labyrinths of silent misery,
May the shadows possess my absent minded ears, with serenading poetry.

This is poetry my friend.
"And in sobriety secured by effervescent alcohol, in these labyrinths of silent misery,
May the shadows possess my absent minded ears, with sweet serenading poetry."
The above lines were my favorite. Your words, hard, direct and true. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

This one is downright wild. A nicely rhymed piece with unique imagery, it gives me the impression of some type of mental illness. The words "dopamine deprived" especially caught my eye, as did "primeval hysterics." Then there's the mention of alcohol. Is this the picture of someone self medicating?

I really love this and am impressed with your command of your vocabulary. This is not only verse but an image of words painted on canvas.
