New Beginnings

Thought on my upcoming cross country move

The road ahead beckons me
A momentous move for which I prepare.
Vet checks
Animals to feed
Permits to enter
Cross country hauling at it's best and it's worst.

I'm behind schedule by a month already. 
Do I wait until the desert cools
Take a risk of hauling in the oven's heat.
Water needed
Feed to store
Babies to feed
Caution is best to proceed

Be that as it may
The road ahead still beckons me
Only time will see me through
Step by step
The journey flows
Slow and steady she goes
Following the setting sun until the journey's through.

This was a good write, I like the way you structured the piece like a checklist; marking off those things which must be done. It says you are organized and prepared for the journey, a bit hesitant in the confidence department but hopeful and optimistic all the same. It sets the perfect mood for a follow up road poem as well. Can't wait to hear some of your adventures on your journey, hope they are all pleasant ones.

Life if anything is relentless and doesn't stop for no one or nothing... the only way to survive and keep your sanity is do the best you can and remembering your human so you won't be perfect in the process...I really like the desert reference.
