Keep your powder dry

Keep your powder dry

A Poem by Misterr Remeat

When they tell you you are grounded
but you want to touch the sky
When they try to make you crawl
and you know that you can fly
they try to keep you normal
and they won't tell you why
Keep your powder dry my friends
keep your powder dry

when you think you've found a savior
and it turns out to be a lie
when you think that all is calm now
and the s**t begins to fly
When the load is so damn heavy
you think you're going to die
Keep your powder dry my friends
keep your powder dry

They will find you, they will bind you
because they want to see you fry
They will state that it is useless
so don't even think to try
They don't know your strengths
so don't let them see you cry
Keep your powder dry my friends
keep your powder dry

This is very well-written! I love the rhyme & rhythm & the repeated refrain of the last 2 lines for each stanza -- it all adds up to a compelling message that starts out a little gentle & then grows stronger as it goes along. I love the way this could apply to so many different things in life that beat you down, open to interpretation by any reader. Not familiar with the way you've used this title phrase, but I'm pleasantly surprised to google it & see how well it fits your purpose here. Great job! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Great poem! Love the flow and the drive of it. I think some people can't except their own uniqueness and in turn force their fear on others. The fears of others cannot define you and this poem sends that message for me. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind words!
Your musicality get choppy in a couple of places, but the message is strong and profound. I love it! A great way to advise people not to take up arms. Well done!

Very nice. Has the sound of Kipling to it. (Please do a spell check on the second word of the poem.)
