The Little Leaf

The Little Leaf

A Poem by Sydney
"

The flight of her life.

"
Birthed from the first
quench of the spring rain
waiting for her whole life
to become another
whole again.

After becoming full and grown
in the blistering heat and
children pulling sisters
and crumbling them
in their grumby fingers.
She calms.

Once cooled off by steady
breazes of fall,
the now orange bodied leaf
is prepared to wither,
and become one with
the Earth, as once before.

The day has come to fly
after a whole life in a few
seasons, little leaf is ready
after siblings change in unity,
one lets go and flies
starting a chain of leaves
meeting their lovely grass and soil.

The little, beautifully brown
around the edges leaf,
takes her last breath
and jumps off her nourishing mother,
to fertile another
desperate mother of new leaves
waiting for their turn,
the flight of their life,
the most beautiful moment
to grow for.

A swift and-almost forever-
in flight,
the leaf reaches the soft Earth.
Now it is time to rest,
knowing she will be the reason
for more beautiful leaves
to come.
