A short description of life...

Many people have tried to explain life-- to compare it to something tangible. But life is not tangible and therefore cannot be compared to something that is because that alters its meaning significantly. It is like comparing life to the peach sunrise with a splash of orange juice we see some mornings. The sunrise is not quite tangible, yet it still doesn't explain life, for life is not always a beautiful sweet few minutes of the morning. Many people are not even up at that time of day. Life has been compared to life itself. Like the bright green blades of grass that soak our shoes as they pour their precious caught raindrops of a spring shower on our destructive feet. Crying, pleading, begging us to stop. But that is comparing apples to apples! What is the point of saying that life is like life? Others may say that life is like a timer. It starts when you are forming in your mother's womb. Just an embryo curled up in a ball like a furry kitten fast asleep in its bed. But if life is a timer, then we should be able to see the numbers ticking down--like watching an hourglass' sand slowly trickle down to the bottom of the frame.

 

Mankind has so many ways to compare or explain life.

Life is life and always will be. We cannot describe it-it is too complex to describe. Every second of life is different from the one before. Each type of life is different, and has a different meaning. No one can fully describe their life, because their life is not complete until they have passed away.

 

Some things just cannot be broken down because they are too complex to know where to start. So what is life? Each author can explain it the way they need to but overall what is life? Why, life is life. And that is that.

In a way, we can describe life, but only the life we live. I hate saying "that's life!" because mine and yours will never be the same. Like our fingerprints, no line obviously is similar to another person's.

This is the point where we start seeing things other people cannot. And this, too, is where we begin to write. Look around and find what will never bore you. :)

Thanks! I agree. No one person can explain life, because everybody has different experiences that determine what they consider "life." We say Life isn't fair, life is this, life is that... and really I think life can be everything and anything because of the zillions of different experiences every different person has...

This is beautiful! I love your use of nature with comparing life- nature, something seemingly so simple, can be very much related to something as complex as life. Although, you are right- it still cannot possibly describe the enormity of life.
