Reality

Reality

A Poem by Sylvia

Canon balls went boom
Guns went bang
Bloods all over
War has begun
Children run for their lives
Finding safe place to be alive
Is there any solution to this destruction?
Last night we ate supper
I asked my parents why others suffer
Dad said don't mind it
Mom just smiled and continued to eat
My parents don't know what to say
Is there a price that all of us must pay?
I felt broken and sad, this is crazy!
And I finally understand this is reality.

There is a hint of sadness in this piece - when the older generation is not willing to make a change or say anything towards the unfairness, tyranny and tragedy out there. The contrast is brilliantly put together (plus rhyming scheme is nice)!
