The Proper Art of Living

The Proper Art of Living

A Poem by Hanakuso
"

My feelings are more than words.

"

If ever you want to cry,

Just cry.

The decision lies in you.

The decision to know

If you are important or not.

To puddle into apathy and despair

Waiting all your life for someone

Who will never come to save you.

If you are tired and weary,

Pick yourself up and carry yourself home.

Don’t tell yourself nothing matters.

Everything matters.

His breath on the glass,

Her lipstick stain on the cup.

They matter because you can see them

And if you can see them,

They can see you.

What lasts, will last.

Wait. Ticks of the clock,

The hum of your watch.

Time solves almost everything.

What it can’t solve, you have to solve yourself.

Nobody can do anything for you.

Nobody can live your life for you.

Ultimately, the choice lives with you.

What you decide to do,

Whether to live life with regrets

Or to grow in a storm,

You can thrive.

Let us be beautiful and new together.

The sun is still up and you’re still there.

You’re a small piece in a big universe.

And that makes it all right.
