Verbose

A Poem by Tasteless Heart

How is it possible to feel so numb
While at the same time be boiling over with emotion
I'm stuck in this paradoxical farce
It has overwhelmed me
It is controlling my life

I walk one way certain I am done with this
Turn the other and not certain of anything at all
I look at you and feel nothing in my heart
Then close my eyes and am overcome with yearning love
I cannot survive this juxtaposition
It is tearing me apart

I have lived so long in my dreams and imagination
This bitter reality is slowly sinking in
My biggest fears and worst nightmares are happening
Ravaging everything I have built while I stand helplessly by
All that's left is shadows and memories
I am empty
But I live on.

I found this very visual and flowing. This poem is very personal and has the reader feel as if they are in your shoes. This writing is excellent. Great job!

I am glad it resonated with you, thanks for your kind words!
Love juxtapositions! You've outdone most, by also showing the torment behind the contrasts of life. Many poets show the dark & light of life using metaphors, which can be distancing. I like your literal, intensely-stated way of showing us how you're being ripped apart. Much more personal & immediate. Great share!
