The fork in the road

The fork in the road

A Poem by Tasteless Heart

Try to forget all those broken years

It’s just too hard to remember

Can’t help giving in to relentless fear

These desperate cries of surrender

My knees buckle down from this crushing weight

The burden that’s placed on my shoulders

I’m haunted by dreams of my past mistakes

Reliving this nightmare all over

I pick myself up from this frozen ground

Finding the will to be stronger

I cling to the strength in growth that I’ve found

But I can’t hold on here much longer

Alone on the path as my journey begins

This fork in the road is tormenting

Which journey to choose is the battle I’m in

We drown in the beauty that hope brings.

WOWZA! This is an awesome poem! Thanks for sharing! I love your vivid & specific word choices. Your rhymes are coming naturally, & the rhythm is smooth & comfortable reading. But most of all, the message! Oh haven't we all been tortured by this! You describe it so well, I can feel the weights of regret & relentless fear, but still it's not an overly dreary-sounding write, just realistic.
