Empty Glass

Empty Glass

A Poem by terry smith

I hold my breath
as I empty the glass
a THC and Tequila bath
to wash the stench of you
off of my brain
layer by layer
drink by drink
slowly you start to peel away...
our entire relationship
circling the drain
and I feel at peace with myself.

Till tomorrow
when it starts all over again.

well.. I began to read and couldn't stop until I reached the end.. only to find the "begin again" my time has worn itself out for the moment but I will begin again..

Too often this one is a truism and not just an observation.

Oh man. I think of all the things of yours that I've read, this stands out as my favorite. It's raw and minimalistic enough to kick us in the gut without teetering into verbosity. We've all been here, I suspect. I dig the image of a stench on his brain...what a cool turn of phrase. Well done.

The authenticity jumps off the screen. We should all do so well to write our truth instead of trying.. read more

Drunk of some alcoholic beverage is temporary. However drunk of some life's emotional turmoil is not.
