Down Down Down

Down Down Down

A Poem by R Lee Cline

Down Down Down an obscure road life goes fleeing
All seems well, is it not, time is so deceiving
Love to understand Cupid's Gift if it had but a reason
It grows without roots and knows no earthly season
But in all honestly love itself is not the quest
Rather the very essence of self I might suggest
Who am I? Why am I? Is there not more to life than this
I put all on hold as I go forth giving my love a farewell kiss

Down Down Down again the sun takes leave as darkness invades
Life slows down, in a daze, it's all a masquerade
I look to man, knowledge handed down, it falls short
To contemporary minds, answers sought, the truth they distort
Like a circus, insert the clowns, with the laughter they bring
Trivial the things in life along with ignorance to which we cling
So on and on goes the charade as I write it all off
As a new day beckons, on down the road, in my mind I scoff

Down Down Down will the curtain fail to rise anymore
This is fate but it's a lie there's always an encore
Time is a diversion, a distraction, on the eternal stage
Then a thought, like a seed spouted, my mind turns a new page
The revelation of self reveals a simple lowly fact
It's not about me or finding self, which adds up to a selfish act
Many miles traveled, many days wasted, running from love's rainbow
So back down the road traveled I go, to the one I love so....
