Moonlight

Moonlight

A Poem by Tierney Heilman

Forty minutes driving the highway along the river brought her to this place.

Two months ago she made her first trip out.

Two weeks ago, the second.

And now, the third and final visit.

The moonlight shined brighter from up here, she thought.

The moonlight cut deeper from up here, she thought.

The moonlight lit her solemn face with it's delicate glowing light.

The late October chill rose hairs on the nape of her neck.

Her head hung loosely between her shoulders, chin to chest.

The water rippled out towards the shore, transforming the night sky into a blurry array of light.
