We Can Make It

We Can Make It

A Poem by thatmissouriguy

I don't want you to resent me
Just to love me and be mine
So I have to find a way
To change my thoughts, my views, my mind
I thought we solved this issue
A handful of times before
But it seems to keep on coming up
It's a hassle, a nuisance, a chore
Why does it have to be this way
I wish we could agree
I wish one way or the other
We both could be happy, you and me
I know with time it will get better
The past has showed us that
A short 6 months ago tomorrow
I was against a shot, a can, a glass
I hope I'm worth the time it takes
For me to come to terms with the situation
Because you, for me, are all I need
You're my rock, my strong foundation
