This poem may offend some people and I was not sure to publish it. Love it or hate it, it's all the same to me. I write to get things out!

Believe

Why do people turn to belief?

In times of immense grief

Hoping a god will give them answers

why some live and others die of cancers

****

Does knowing if it's part of a master plan

Make it easier to understand

I believe in what I can see and touch

Not some magic god and such

****

Things are the way they are

You can look near and far

But you will never find the reason why

Some people live and other die

Why do people turn to belief?
In times of immense grief
Hoping a god will give them answers
why some live and others die of cancers
****
Does knowing if it's part of a master plan
Make it easier to understand
I believe in what I can see and touch
Not some magic god and such
****
Things are the way they are
You can look near and far
But you will never find the reason why
Some people live and other die

In the last line you may wish to make "other"....""others"...PLURAL..as in "people".
I won't debate the logic of your beliefs or lack thereof. But I might point out that everyone dies...everyone. It's simply a matter of time and chance. Some believe there is a part of us that survives death (a soul or spirit). That belief is not completely without scientific merit. The second law of thermodynamics is that energy cannot be created or destroyed. We are electric creatures. The synapses of our brains creating thought fire on electrical impulses. When the body dies and that energy leaves the flesh, it MUST be transmuted or transformed into something according to the laws of physics. I believe that God is pure energy and all energy in the universe stems from God. I also believe that all energy (in due time) returns to the source. All rivers run to the sea do they not? Just something to think about. An interesting and thought provoking write.
