Sleep Only Made It Worse

Sleep Only Made It Worse

A Poem by Tim
"

Your writing never suffers when you suffer.

"

Sleep only made it worse

feelings of discontent

waning confidence

in us

I gave you everything

to take it back would be wrong

everything is wrong

even though all you do

is treat me right.

Where lust flourished

routine of the same-old same-old takes residence

permanently

in my disenchanted eyes

that I’d rip out if I had the courage to

and hand to you

as eagerly as I did with my heart

Sleep always makes it worse, or at least the waiting to fall asleep with all the silence and time to think. Beautiful poem.

A very dragging sadness to this poem. Thank you for sharing.

Most people's writing doesn't suffer when they suffer, but for me, my suffering takes my words..no, not your's though.
Your poem is strong and your 'suffering' is well written.
I like this verse:

"Where lust flourished

routine of the same-old same-old takes residence

permanently

in my disenchanted eyes

that I’d rip out if I had the courage to

and hand to you

as eagerly as I did with my heart"

A stark image comes to my mind.
This happens to many and it is sad that something so strong comes to this.

This is amazing with strong and effective use of words. Many people including myself will be able to relate to this poem.
