![]() Graveyard ShiftA Poem by Sara Henry Heistand![]() Not edited. Eee.![]() I touch the stone marvel at the smudge of ink dominating the veneer that’s heartache when headlights hit the tombstones through the churchyard gate I want to end it The house echoes a lonely sound a forgotten flame it all unwinds and disappears aghast at the atmosphere funny how we took a wrong turn at the sign. The memories start and stop braking at the gate It’s a slippery slope Getting back out Maybe we won’t make the trip.
