Isolde

Isolde

A Poem by Manda A.

A dimming star slips the moss of eve
A rope
Lasso drapes
The Well
Latches on and catches onto
Slips off and slides over off of
Forms into a noose
Rubber band binding my lungs
It'll do, just fine
Inside this cage I constructed
Crafted of defiance
Enraged

I am on an island.
Stranded?
I'd build a raft of toothpicks
It would only dissipate
Best stay here where it's warm and dry
Revisiting adolescence, premature elder spirit
The only difference now
Indifference
Instead of seeing neon yellow
First red, then pitch gray

The only laughter I do is with myself
The television or you
That drives them off in in pairs
Can't help but scoff
The only ones here?
The only ones true
Is there no one
Truer than you?

I enjoyed the imagery here, and how the work flows freely. Great job!

Great write Amanda! Now tell me what
you were thinking when you wrote it.
I liked how it flowed and the stanzas
were perfect thanks for sharing.
