Just Enough to Get By

Just Enough to Get By

A Poem by Manda A.
"

The rich keep getting richer while the poor are left for dead.

"

Cast out
Thrown from every home
My hand slapped
My hand stamped:
No re-entry permitted
Struggle towards the peak, the green
I can't hold onto it
The amounts pile and pile
And with each walking mile
The collateral falls from my finger tips
The collectors call her at home
Seething my pride with embarrassment
Drowning, drowning, drowning
Debts
Blanketed over years since seventeen
Bankruptcy in near sight
I cry out for help, my last resort
But no one likes a beggar
The poor and desolate are set ablaze daily.
Each solution only providing further burial
I've been pointing my compass toward the zenith
Denial says to me in my nadir:
"You're headed towards the streets."

Good poem. It feels a bit abstract but the content is concrete. This is sadly part of life, all the more at the moment. Feel free to send me read requests any time!

I would never let you live in the streets.
