True story

True story

A Poem by Thelostgirl22
"

Based on a true story Trigger warning: Weight/food issues

"

A young girl, standing in front of the mirror

Not liking what she sees

No one is going to love her for who she is meant to be

Walking on eggshells as she enters those school doors

Her head points down towards the floors

Thinking if she cant see people looking, it isn't happening

Thinking to herself she's ugly, she's fat, she's not enough

In her head everyone is thinking these kind of negative stuff

She never ate lunch at school

In the fear that people would see her eat

Because school kids can be so cruel

She debated eating dinner every night

Her mother wouldn't let her skip a meal without a fight

Instead she told her young daughter

You are very unique, you are very smart, you are very kind

Do not let other people keep you undefined

Looks don't last

They stay in the past

But your star features stay forever

So keep your head up high cause they all know this is a fact

Now a fully grown adult

She stands in front of a mirror

Smiling with confidence in her own skin

As she knows that she's unique within

This is a beautiful poem with a strong message of empowerment behind it. Love who you are in the now. Be true to you. The most difficult love you can ever achieve is the greatest because that is learning to love yourself. Great job on this poem and thank you for sharing it with us.
