Give Me a Taste

Give Me a Taste

A Poem by Daniel Rae

what do I feel?
altering my heart beat,
my pace of breath,
my mindset,
mellowed.

ears,
treated gently
by calm music,
slithering through my ears,
tingling my sensations.

I want
things,
yet at the same time,
I just want to bask
in my contentness.

calm,
feel finger tips
draw down your spine.
feel the warmth
of someone you
want.

feel lips,
pressed against
your bare shoulder blade.
not numb,
not burning up.
content,
indifferent.

emotions
on cruise control,
auto pilot.

empty your
frustrations.

let me breathe you in,
hold you there,
you have to crave it,
me.
hopefully,
I can give you what
you need,
want.

leave it to me,
I won't leave you
be.

stare up at the stars,
holes in a blanket.
twinkling like
your eyes.
shimmering
like your skin.

come close,
let me whisper
a melody,
my lonely remedies.

your voice,
like the sound of
a beautifully played
piano.
your smile,
like seeing a genuine
treasure.
your laughter,
like hearing the
secret to life.
your name,
slips easily from my
tongue.

give me a taste
of what it means
to be
in love.
