A Box That's Built(Must Come Down)

A Box That's Built(Must Come Down)

A Poem by *joy*

I lay aside myself to improve what you could be
Taking you in both my hands, I hope to set you free
There is a shadow on your walls, like a stain that covers paint
You’ve built a box around your life that won’t release a thing

I’m here to make a door
A frame to worlds beyond
You’ll find no darkness on the walls
But a place where you belong

For some time you’ve needed color, a shade that’s more than gray
You’ve tried so hard to find another, a warmth you beg to stay
I can‘t create an Eden, but I’ll find these things for you
That girl you hold forever, and brighter tones and hues

I’m here help and guide
A friend to hold your hand
You’ll see that I won’t let you down
But steady you to stand

You grow when you are confident, you hold your shoulders back
Display to me that you can make it, show that you won’t crack
My eyes have seen that you are strong, you can leave this cell behind
You’re face was hidden under masks, no longer do they blind

I’m here to watch you go
A name to not forget
You’ll want me to stay for comforts sake
But I’ll ask for no regrets

Once you are all you can be, I’ll move on to the another
The next poor soul that needs my help, and new worlds to discover
You see I built four walls, I painted each one gray
I may be able to break down others, but in my box I’ll stay

I’m here not for myself
A soul that’s comes in last
You’ll try and free me from my bonds
But how to do that task

You watched me step by step, and remembered how it felt
Holding out a hand you say that you can give me help
You tell me I have done enough, I wasn’t meant for gray
I deserve more than the cold, no one should dig their grave

You’re here for my life

A heart that’s wants my soul

I’m trusting you completely

And I’ll do as I am told

You say one time I promised, to brighten up your life
As well as find that girl for you, who keeps you warm at night
You continue that I’ve given color, and saved you from yourself
But that girl is somewhat absent, unless she is myself
