Before the Storm

Before the Storm

A Poem by Sarah Marie

The senses tell you before creation
When a storm is gracing you with its presence-
Before a storm, you can smell
The fresh earth, the pending rain-
All of nature as one.
You can hear the whistles and moans
Of the warning winds,
A whisper from one side of the world to the other.
You can feel the mist before it ever forms
On the hairs rising on the back of you neck,
Anticipation taking over your reality.
You can nearly taste the sweetness of Heaven,
The eagerness on the tip of your tongue
As the storm causes you to be ravenous.
Seeing-that is just a little bit better,
Words few and far between which could describe
The beauty in majesty in storms.
