the hush sound

the hush sound

A Poem by tiefightersunite

Hush, whisper hush; our sounds cannot escape the confines of these walls,

A small sanctuary of blankets and the ever present buzz of a fan

Empty clothes abandoned on the floor in favor of warm skin, warm touch and warm breath.

Our eyes are never far apart on the pillow, our eyelashes flickering against each other’s cheek,

Soft butterfly kisses as we kiss. Outside our cave comes the dim muffled monotone of a tv

And someone shuffling around a bag of chips but its only background noise,

Noise we can ignore with soft laughter and low murmurs, shifting limbs in the sheets.

We make love like puzzle pieces, connected rightly as if we belong so, pouring ourselves

Into the other’s eyes, wrapping arms more tightly, light fingers over contours.

That one moment where the world stops turning for an instant and we are alone

In the cosmos, no interruption, no past present or future; just us two, alone in the hush.
