the infinite ocean

the infinite ocean

A Poem by tiefightersunite

I am but a wave in the midst of fearsome vast water;

I can no more change the pattern of the sea

Than man can count the countless stars.

Here and now I am small, insignificant,

A minute blip in the torrent of a storm

My fate is not my own, my life is not to be steered

Through the clouds I can visualize calm waters,

Tranquil, floating, nothing but sea and sky.

I will grow, larger, swelling, and when

My day is up I will roll upon the shore

Mightily die out in a flurry of sand and shells and foam

But they will not linger, or cry, or doubt

Because they still come, ever-coming,

One after another after another for eternity

And I will have been but one wave

In the infinite sea.
